Under the supervision of the Regional Director of Pharmacy, the Regional Manager of Pharmacy Operations ensures the delivery of pharmacy services in an efficient manner, with an emphasis on patient care and medication safety. The Regional Manager of Pharmacy Operations manages and directs pharmacy operations at all Trinity campuses, including drug distribution, sterile product preparation and staff coordination. The Regional Manager ensures best practices in the development, implementation and maintenance of pharmacy policies, procedures and integrity of information systems and technology in coordination with department leadership. The Regional Manager also participates in the department’s long-term planning strategic planning, revenue/expense analysis, operational and capital budgeting, 340B operations, and human resource management activities.

Responsibilities

Management

  • Manages medication purchasing and staffing to meet productivity and budget goals.
  • Responsible for hiring, onboarding, developing, and coaching people and teams within the department to accomplish goals and objectives of the hospital and the department.
  • Provides leadership, motivation and guidance for staff, reacting to situations or problems in which they are involved, counseling and guiding their activities.
  • Actively participate in budgetary forecasting with Regional Director of Pharmacy Services and Senior Leadership
  • Participate in the department’s long-term planning strategic planning, revenue/expense analysis, operational and capital budgeting, 340B operations, and human resource management activities.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Provide or facilitate reporting as required to support quality improvement initiatives, including those related to drug utilization.
  • Keeps records as required by system and affiliate policy, state and federal laws.
  • Identifies operational problems, recommends solutions and participates in the development of new programs or the improvement of existing programs. Ensures daily operations support optimal patient care.
  • Enforces established policies and procedures, and assists with developing and revising policies and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with State Board of Pharmacy, DEA, USP, and other applicable rules and regulations with campus pharmacists-in-charge
  • Ensures accreditation readiness in coordination with pharmacy leadership.

Delivery of Pharmacy Services

  • Establish quality and productivity metrics to monitor performance of drug distribution processes, identifies variation and works with managers to resolve identified variances.
  • Works closely with other department managers and coordinators to assess and implement operational improvements.
  • Recommends and coordinates the implementation of pharmacy best practice standards to optimize drug delivery, patient safety and achieving productivity goals.
  • Assists in achieving the institutional goals by promoting the development, preparation, implementation, and attainment of departmental goals, policies and projects so as to improve quality, availability and accessibility of services and information.

Qualifications

Education:

  • A graduate of an approved College of Pharmacy and possesses a Doctor of Pharmacy or BS degree in Pharmacy.

Experience:

  • PGY1/PGY2 Heath-System Pharmacy Administration Residency, PGY1/PGY2 Ambulatory Pharmacy Residency, or a minimum of two years of pharmacy supervisory experience.

License(s)/Certification(s):

  • Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.Licensed or eligible for pharmacist licensure in IA and IL.
  • Licensed or eligible for pharmacist licensure in IA and IL.
