Responsibilities

Meridell Achievement Center is looking for a Psychiatrist to provide medical care to our patients in a clinical setting under the supervision of a physician. Experience working in the mental health field strongly preferred.

The Psychiatrist provides psychiatric treatment for clients in collaboration with the clinical treatment team. The psychiatrist identifies client treatment needs, provides medication assessments and adjustments, and utilization review as needed. The Psychiatrist is responsible for assessments, treatment planning, psychopharmacological treatment and collaboration with providers to ensure that quality medical/psychiatric care is provided to all patients.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs diagnostic evaluations on clients
  • Demonstrates competency in providing services to assigned patients.
  • Participates in treatment planning, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations or with unpredictable or violent clients
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships within the agency, community and referral sources.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • License/Certifications: Licensed as a Medical Doctor (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) with a specialty in Psychiatry and current state licensure in Texas. Board Certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
  • Experience: Five (5) years clinical psychiatric experience, preferably with children and adolescents. Psychiatric program/unit management experience preferred. Knowledge of medical standards of care established by JCAHO and regulatory agencies.
  • Essential Physical Requirements: physical strength necessary to implement patient behavioral crisis intervention. Sitting, standing, walking, reaching, bending, stooping as required to assist in providing patient care. Able to sustain physical activity eight (8) hours a day. Hearing, vision, sensory, and emotional stability sufficient to perform essential job functions. Able to lift, carry, and lower up to 25 pounds using appropriate body mechanics.
