Cook - Per Diem (PRN)

Responsibilities

Meridell Achievement Center is looking for a Cook to join our dietary department on a per diem (PRN, as needed) basis.

Meridell Achievement Center is a nationally recognized 134-bed private residential treatment facility that specializes in the treatment of children and adolescents who have emotional, behavioral and neurobehavioral problems. Meridell has been providing exceptional care for our patients for 60 years. We provide a wide range of services and programs that offer evidence-based treatment proven to have positive outcomes for our patients. Our inpatient and outpatient services offer supportive and compassionate care through specialty programs that are tailored to meet the needs of our patients. Our mission is to provide safe, effective, and compassionate mental health and substance use treatment.

The Cook is a key member of the Meridell Achievement Center (Meridell) dietary team who will assist with preparation and distribution of patient meals to include breakfast, lunch, dinner. The Cook ensures high-quality delivery of the facility's nutrition program that aligns with the mission, vision, and values of Meridell and UHS and in accordance with government regulation, licensing and accredidation requirements.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Perform all duties under direct supervision of the Dietary Manager
• Cooking and serving all facility meals served during shift
• Cleaning and sanitizing work areas and food preparation equipment and utensils
• Maintain safe work area and quality control
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Education: High School graduate or equivalent (preferred). Experience may be substituted for education requirement.
• Experience: Prefer previous experience working in a dietary department.
• License/Certification: Health Card required; Meridell is willing to pay for certification.
• Skills: Ability to read, write, follow and give oral instructions. Must be able to operate food service equipment.
• Essential Physical Requirements: Work is of medium to heavy demand. Requires walking, standing, bending, lifting objects in excess of 50 pounds. Must be able to push and pull 30 pound cart. Must be able to work at a fast pace.
