The Transportation Mental Health Tech functions as an active part of the treatment team and serves as the first and last interaction patients have with SLBH.
This full-time position provides transportation of patients to and from the facility providing friendly and professional patient care through continuous observation, interaction, and role modeling to the patients while maintaining safety at all times.
MHT will be responsible for the safety of patients ranging in age from adolescents through geriatrics depending on which patient population is being transported.
MHT will work under the direction of a Transportation Supervisor and Nursing Administration. This position will be responsible for three 10-hour day shifts two weekday and one weekend shift (Sunday) for military outing transport .
Position requires participation in an on-call shift rotation which includes swing / nights (2000-0100). MHT must be dependable, have a flexible schedule, and ability to function well under stress.

Qualifications
Education : High School Degree or equivalent preferred; Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy or appropriate therapeutic discipline preferred.
Experience : One year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care
techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.
Licensure : Must maintain an active, unencumbered, valid driver's license in the State of Utah.
Additional Requirements : Must be 21 years or older and have a good driving record as obtained from the Department of Public Safety.
Resides within a 25 mi radius of hospital or can respond to on-call shifts within an hour. Ability to safely drive a 15-passenger transit van in order to transport patients including admits, discharges, pt.
appointments, IOP pick-up / drop off, and military outing transport. Attend a vehicle safety orientation and pass a competency evaluation.
Ability to perform a basic visual vehicle inspection and maintain accurate driving / milage logs. Maintain ongoing training regarding transportation safety.
Successfully complete current training for restraints and seclusions. This training will need to be done prior to assisting in any patient restraints or seclusions and within 90 days of employment.
CPR certification is required. Work with transportation team completing other assigned hospital duties.
