Job Description

The Graphic Designer role supports Creative placemaking projects at Universal Studios Hollywood and is responsible for the creation of a broad range of graphic designs solutions for the theme park and City Walk . The projects address the visual aspects of environment, placemaking and wayfinding to create and enhance the creative storytelling and brand identity.

What you will do:

  • Support project design leads for design and implementation of assigned projects.
  • Develop varied environmental graphics and sign design solutions for all stages from concept design through preparation of construction documentation.
  • Provide design documentation in the form of illustrations, photographs, scaled images, research, and documentation on assigned projects.
  • Ensure creative intent is achieved by integrating sign designs with components of the facility’s exterior, interior and area development.
  • Prepare specific deliverables including: locating signs on base sheets, elevation, material call outs, drawing packages to describe overall creative intent.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Graphic Design and Illustration or similar strongly preferred.    
  • 1-3 plus years in the themed entertainment industry.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite including After Effects.  
  • Sketch-up modeling or 3-Dimensional software proficiency a plus.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Ability to ideate quickly with hand-sketch ideas.
  • Self-starter with a passion for pop-culture, animation and a keen eye for graphic design. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to take constructive feedback and apply it to improve design work.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, organizational & multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to deal well with ambiguity and constant change.

Additional Requirements:

  • Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
