Overview
The Career Advisor is responsible for helping students prepare for successful careers in their field of study by engaging with them at key intervals to review topics such as resume preparation, career development, mock interviewing, the job search process, etc. The Career Advisor plays a critical role in ensuring employment outcomes are met in a compliant way. The Career Advisor may also perform activities related to promoting advanced training opportunities for both student and manufacturer paid Elective programs. Ideal candidates must be able to build effective relationships, conduct engaging, informative presentations and be an effective communicator, both verbal and written to be successful in this position.
Responsibilities
- Assists with identifying local employment opportunities, populating job boards, creating resumes, and coordinating campus events to support active students in their job search endeavors.
- Ensures active students are prepared for industry employment by providing mock interview opportunities, resume workshops, career counseling sessions, career development courses, and job search techniques.
- Plans and coordinates career fairs, employer visits, expos, virtual employer sessions, and other employment events in order to provide opportunities for students to connect with employers and understand the variety of entry-level positions available to them in the industry.
- Partners to promote and introduce students to student and manufacturer paid MSATs by delivering informational presentations to them throughout their program, providing guidance and direction regarding career opportunities while sharing the value proposition of advanced training.
- Ensures strong employment rates for active students and graduates by continually following up with unemployed students/graduates through a variety of different touch points including one-on-one meetings, classroom surveys, classroom presentations, phone calls, text message and/or social media contacts, as well as utilizing the EDGE team to market students to employers who may not have job postings on the job board.
- Ensures ACCSC standards as well as state guidelines, where applicable, are met by accurately collecting and recording students’ and graduates’ employment records.
- Follows up with graduates and employers, as needed, to ensure employment verification information is submitted timely and documented accurately.

Qualifications
Education / Experience
- High School diploma or GED required, with some college courses preferred
- 1-2 years customer service experience required
- 1-2 years of high-volume phone or sales experience required
- Industry knowledge preferred.
- Solid understanding of metrics driven environments with a proven record of meeting or exceeding defined metrics

- Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 5 pounds 5% or less of the workday

- Must be able to sit and walk or otherwise move around for prolonged periods of time throughout the workday
- Must be able to use a keyboard and do manual tasks for prolonged periods of time throughout the workday
Work Environment
- Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment
- Travel required up to 15% of the time
