What are the responsibilities and job description for the Welder position at Universal Waste Systems?
Description
The primary role of the Welder is to make appropriate welds to repair or fabricate trash/recycling bins and sometimes trucks.
Essential Responsibilities
1. Perform welding, fabrication and fabricating repairs on bins and trucks.
2. Conduct safety checks on welds and fabrications on bins and trucks.
3. Utilize fleet maintenance software program to document work.
4. Observe and comply with hazardous waste and material handling and disposal procedures and regulations as set forth by local, state and federal environmental and health agencies.
5. Observe and comply with all applicable safety regulations, rules, policies and procedures.
6. Maintain clean, safe and organized work space.
7. Maintain collaborative working relationship with drivers, operators and coworkers and communicate timeline for downed vehicles.
8. Mentor and provide assistance to Welder Trainees.
9. Participate in external, Department and Company-wide trainings to increase skill sets.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of:
· Welding and fabrication principles and practices.
· Tools, equipment and systems used in the practice of welding and fabrication.
· Federal, state and local job site health and safety rules, regulations and best practices.
Ability to:
· Maintain a positive attitude with coworkers.
· Proactively establish trust and credibility with coworkers by maintaining accountability.
· Contribute to the team dynamic by promoting inclusion, support and collaboration amongst coworkers.
· Take initiative, self-manage time and productivity through multitasking.

· Think independently and creatively to problem solve.
Education, Training & Experience
1. Three years of welding and fabricating experience.
2. Experience in the resource recovery industry a plus.
3. Certifications a plus.
