Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Practice Administrator, Practice Manager, or Physician Practice Clinical Staff Coordinator and the physicians, assists the physician in direct patient communication and care by working up with vital signs, history, special tests, preparing the exam rooms, chaperoning, scheduling appointments and tests, triage messages and phones-in prescriptions, checking in and out patients, and knowledge of, but not limited to, all clinical and clerical aspects of the medical office setting.
Qualifications
EducationHigh School diploma or GED required. Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or community college preferred.
Licensure CertificationCertification as a Medical Assistant required or if filled with an RN, LPN, or Emergency Medical Technician - Intermediate, must have current and valid professional license in the state of Georgia or South Carolina (as applicable).
ExperienceMinimum one year experience in a physician office or clinical setting such as a hospital unit, dental office or nursing home preferred.
Knowledge Skills & AbilitiesGood communication, computer and excellent customer service skills required in order to communicate with variety of customers (patients of all age groups, physicians, insurance companies, departments of the hospital, other physician offices, other staff members) in a professional manner at all times.
Must be able to accept constructive criticism and direction from medical assistants, physicians, and other staff members and to be able to ask questions if you do not understand. Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities, meeting deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
Physical DemandsWill be required to sit and/or stand for long periods of time, with high level of mental/visual concentrations. Must have good manual dexterity to perform special tests, use telephone, computer, and copier for long periods of time. Must be able to hear and communicate with patients and others in person and over the phone. Must be able to assist patients by helping them onto exam tables, in/out of chairs, and pushing wheelchairs.
