UH Behavioral Health is the KC metro area's largest, most comprehensive provider of mental health services. The Crossroads Building, located in Kansas City's vibrant Crossroads Arts District, is its epicenter, providing a broad list of outpatient services. We also offer psychiatric inpatient care, and we deliver therapeutic services through our community outreach clinics. We are a leader in the Trauma-Informed Care Movement, and provide training, coaching and consulting to outside organizations.
We're looking for a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Technician to join our team at Tracy Group Home. Tracy Group Home serves 11 adults working on their mental health. Under the guidance of the Group Home Manager, you'll play an important role in supporting residents and fostering a therapeutic environment.
As part of the care team, you'll be involved in the direct care of our residents, helping to create a safe and supportive atmosphere. Some of your responsibilities will include:
Creating a compassionate, warm, and welcoming environment where our residents feel at home
Engaging residents in meaningful activities around their interests and hobbies in the home and in the community
Teaching residents cooking skills while preparing meals together
Administering medications (after training)
Providing education on independent living skills
Supporting residents in managing symptoms of their mental illness
This position is eligible for benefits, and you'll receive a shift differential for evening hours.

Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must pass Level 1 Medication Aide (LIMA) licensure course and exam within first 90 days of employment and must maintain current certification, through the Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services (DHSS).
- Must maintain a current and valid Class E Missouri or Kansas driver's license and be competent in operating a 15 passenger van. Must obey all traffic laws while operating vehicles while on duty.
- Clearance through the Family Care Registry
- Completion of training as directed through orientation and/or by Leadership, Management or Educators in the established timeline for continued employment.
- UAP's from staffing agencies shall comply with the training requirements.
If the above criteria are not met, the incumbent is prohibited from providing direct patient care to any acute care patients undergoing a procedure in the outpatient setting.
Preferred Requirements:
- Preference for applicants with previous documented experience in patient care, including assistance with ambulation, feeding, and other activities of daily living.
- Previous mental health experience
- BCLS certification
