Job Description Summary
Manage the day to day business operations. Manage support staff, students, and/or temps including training, assigning and directing work. Uses independent judgment to resolve departmental issues. Perform routine and non-routine clerical tasks to support department/program/unit.
Employee positions providing support and administration of research related funding and activity. Research Administration job category is comprised of areas that collaborate with faculty and staff members to develop, implement and provide operational, financial, administrative, and training and support for the University's research programs, centers and activities.
Job Description
Essential Functions:
  • Provide oversight to grant coordinators on contract issues, negotiations with funding agencies, development and issuance of subcontracts, and faculty issues. 30% Review awards and subcontract documents to ensure all terms and conditions are acceptable to the University. Work with legal counsel on contract negotiations as required.
  • Function as part of management team to set goals and develop internal policies, procedures and processes to ensure efficient pre and post award services. 10% Manage workload and supervise performance of pre-award staff including recruitment, hiring and performance reviews.
  • Develop and provide research administration training for ORA staff and others, and informational workshops on research administration related topics.
Additional Position Information:
Education: Requires a relevant Bachelor’s Degree.
Experience: Requires 2-4 years’ experience working with contract and grant administration. Incumbent should possess the ability to perform budgeting functions and coordinate contract negotiations. Effective problem-solving skills and interpersonal skills are required.

Compensation: The compensation for this position is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
