Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm
Job Summary: The Accounting Assistant III maintains accurate financial records. Provides accounting and bookkeeping support. Assists University staff in understanding industry standards, current laws, and university policy as it relates to the financial affairs of the University. Provides guidance, trains, and/or may train entry-level Accounting Assistants.
Additional Department Summary: The Accounting Assistant III serves as the financial/budget/grant manager for the AMSTI-UA site and assists in administering the financial responsibilities of the contracts awarded to the University of Alabama/University of West Alabama Regional In-Service Center.
Maintains records and monitors the Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative (AMSTI) - Tuscaloosa budget, Alabama Science in Motion (ASIM) budget, and Alabama Technology in Motion (ATIM) budget in accordance with the guidelines of the grants, the requirements of The University of Alabama, and the reporting requests established by the Alabama State Department of Education. Supports initiatives within the Inservice Center and AMSTI, including the execution of electronic personnel action (ePAs) forms, purchasing supplies, reconciling fund charges, and other accounting duties.
Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and four (4) years of accounting or bookkeeping experience; OR associate's degree and two (2) years of accounting or bookkeeping experience; OR bachelor's degree.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Banner. Knowledge of UA's financial accounting and purchasing policies and procedures.
