The Director of Career Services at UAF plays a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of a comprehensive program that meets the diverse needs of the student population. This includes providing leadership, administration, and a developmental vision for the department to promote academic and career success. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing strategic plans, maintaining a strong web presence and job search programs, supervising staff, providing career guidance and support, administering assessments, staying current with industry trends, collaborating with campus departments and employers, managing budgets, and actively participating in university committees. The director also oversees budget management to ensure efficient financial operations.

To thrive in this role, the applicant should be passionate about student success, education, career readiness, and helping students connect their academic journeys to employment and internship opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications:

A master’s degree is required (preferred in college student personnel, higher education administration, counseling, business administration/management/economics, or other closely related discipline) from a post-secondary institution whose accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation.

A minimum of three years of experience in a post-secondary environment managing career services, employment, training, or related activities.

Previous experience working in a career services unit.

Position Details:

This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 81, based on education and experience.
