Records Specialist

University of Alaska - External Careers
Anchorage, AK Full Time
POSTED ON 6/7/2024

The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) welcomes applications for the position of Records Specialist in the Office of the Registrar.

As the Records Specialist, you will join a team of knowledgeable, caring and innovative professionals working primarily behind the scenes to improve the student, faculty and staff experience at UAA. Working in the Registrar’s Office will position you at the center of policy, technology and customer service. Our team supports major technology initiatives; serves as experts on process, policy and compliance; and helps UAA stay current on emerging trends and issues in our industry. A role in the Registrar’s Office offers a solid foundation for whatever your professional aspirations at UAA (or beyond) may be.

You will develop in-depth knowledge of the records area in our office (academic record maintenance, enrollment and degree reporting and verification, end of semester processing, production of official transcripts, and grading oversight/troubleshooting). Additionally, you will develop a comprehensive knowledge base of policies, processes, rules and regulations as they relate to academic history and serve as an expert resource in this area and related systems. Finally, you will provide superior front-line service to students, staff and faculty, including supporting our call center.

To thrive in this role, you will embrace technology and be willing to learn new systems, exercise your critical thinking and problem-solving skills regularly, and learn to clearly communicate policies and complex issues to a diverse campus community. You will perform well under pressure and maintain productivity despite regular interruptions. An interest in researching and an ability to make independent and sound judgment calls will serve you well. A positive attitude, strong sense of initiative and an attention to detail are musts.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's degree, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Baccalaureate degree preferred. Experience working with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, calendaring, email, and web browsers within the last 3-5 years is required.
