Summary of Job Duties:The Content Writing Intern will work closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications and the communications team to disseminate content via our e-mail newsletters, blog posts and other mediums to key stakeholders within the college, most notably students.

They will be responsible for obtaining content for, maintaining, and managing our weekly student newsletter, the Walton Weekly, that is distributed to over 9,000 undergraduate students and 2,000 parents and other stakeholders via our e-mail management platform Axios HQ. Strong writing experience is required, and examples of work will be required as part of the job application.

This role will also have responsibility in managing the content on the Walton College student blog.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current student at sophomore level or above at the University of Arkansas pursuing a degree inEnglish, journalism, creative writing, communications, advertising, marketing, Advertising/PR, or a related field

  • At least one year of experience in writing, including internships

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in writing e-mail content

  • Experience in marketing to/communicating with college students via e-mail, social media or another medium

  • More than one year of experience in writing

  • Experience in Macintosh environments

  • Experience in working in an e-mail marketing platform such as Axios, Mailchimp or ConstantContact

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of basic marketing principles

  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written, visual)

  • Short and long form writing skills

  • Strong ability to edit and check the quality of your work

  • Ability to organize, prioritize and maintain a multi-project load
