Departmental Overview
|
|
Capital Strategies provides a full suite of planning, design, real estate, construction, and development services to UC Berkeley. Capital Strategies is part of the Administrative Division and includes real estate professionals, architects, planners, engineers, construction managers, and administrative specialists, working together to serve the campus community. The Director will be responsible for managing strategic P3-delivered and campus-delivered projects that advance the academic mission in the academic research and student housing sectors. To that end, the Director must be an expert in all areas of private real estate development and Public Works capital projects. This includes technical expertise in evaluating and negotiating partnerships, acquisitions, leases, and sales of property for the University, and the use of expert administration skills in providing leadership and professional services to attain the best use of the University's real estate assets which is strategic in carrying out the University's mission. The Director must also have expertise in land use entitlement, project design, procurement, construction, and turnover of Public Works projects. The Director will advise senior management and consult with industry professionals in designing, planning, and implementing complex, technical systems, and highly customized construction features. Ideally, the Director will have specific experience and expertise in high-density housing development. This position will represent the University at meetings and conferences involving academic compliance committees, campus, UC system-wide, local government, state, and federal levels of authority in matters related to P3-delivered research facilities and student housing projects. The Director will exercise independent judgment and manage lower-level project managers. This Project decision-making will be based on established UCOP and campus procedures and integration and interpretation of relevant laws, regulations, organization policy, as well as professional best practices. |

This is a full-time, career position that is eligible for full UC Benefits and retirement plans. For information on the comprehensive benefits package offered by the University, please visit the University of California's Compensation & Benefits website. Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The budgeted salary that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $180,000 to $220,000 annually. |
