Key Highlights

Founded in 1973, serves as the primary academic support unit for UC Berkeley.
Serves 12,000 undergraduates annually, approximately 30% of undergraduate student population, in 12 academic and co-curricular programs.
Employs 18 professional staff with disciplinary expertise, 300 trained undergraduate tutors, and 20 graduate student instructors.
Serves as the liaison between Berkeley administration and the DeCal program,a partnership that adds over 300 additional courses to the university's curriculum.
Manages Berkeley's Summer Bridge Program, a rigorous six-week academic residential program for entering freshmen.

Responsibilities

The SLC Language Exchange Program Coordinator assists the director and/or assistant director in the administration of the SLC Language Program Program, from managing the daily operations of the program to supervising a tutorial staff of 8-10 undergraduate students.

Delivers established co-curricular support services to Cal undergraduates, including facilitating language practice groups, hosting social events, and conducting service orientations. etc.
Assists with the training and supervision of a peer staff of 10-12 undergraduates.
Assists with the daily operations of the program, from user outreach to data collection to website maintenance.
Mentors undergraduates to enhance disciplinary and professional trajectories.
Establishes and maintains partnerships with organization departments and units.
Serves on Center-wide committees to support the overall administrative needs and mission of the Center.
Required Qualifications

Multicultural competencies; knowledge and experience working and interacting effectively with diverse groups of staff, faculty, and student populations.
Knowledge of how learning skills issues apply to a research institution.
Knowledge of strategies in critical thinking, reading, writing, note taking, test taking, time management, and goal setting.
Skills in judgment and decision-making.
Problem solving skills.
Develops knowledge of specific learning theory, learning styles, affective issues, academic issues, and socio-cultural issues in applying academic support for students.
Develops knowledge of current and theoretical models that influence the application and delivery of academic services (e.g., discipline specific; student-population specific).
Knowledge of learning theories and training models.
Strong oral and written communication skills; interpersonal and presentation skills.
Ability to communicate information in small and large group settings.
Proficient computer skills including databases, word processing, spreadsheets, and web-based systems (such as Google Workspace for Education).
Basic graphic design skills for program promotion purposes.
Education and Training

Bachelor's degree in a related area and / or equivalent experience/training.
Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.

The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $58,576 - $80,437
