Job Summary

Under the general direction of the head coach for women’s tennis, responsible for performing assigned coaching duties. Assists the head coach in the conduct of pre-season, regular season and permissible out of season practices and training programs. Travels to away matches and teaches those skills that are related to different tennis events at the collegiate level of competition

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of the rules and techniques of tennis. This includes, but is not limited to, teaching techniques, coaching strategies and safety measures that are necessary to compete at the collegiate level.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Insert Here Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely, and logically, both verbally and in writing. Ability to interact effectively and establish cooperative working relationships with highly motivated UC Davis student-athletes, coaching colleagues, department staff and other persons from diverse backgrounds including parents, fans, boosters, members of the media an officials associated with this sport.
  • Ability to learn the complex policies and procedures regarding academic eligibility of UC Davis student-athletes. These include UC Davis, conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

80% - Coaching

Assist in the preparation of effective tennis techniques and insures plans are consistent with the skills and abilities of student-athletes. Travel to away matches as designated and assists the head coach with team management. Assist the head coach with all aspects of coaching and team management at a level commensurate to the assigned duties.

20% - Development

Assist the head coach as directed in fundraising and special project activities.
