What are the responsibilities and job description for the SRA 2 NEX (SRA 2-NEX) position at University of California, Davis?
The UC Davis Genome Center coordinates interdisciplinary research in the areas of genomics and bioinformatics, and is involved in the training of undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral scholars. The population of the Genome Center and Cores averages approximately 200 faculty, staff, students, professional researchers, visiting faculty, and postdoctoral scholars. The center is housed in the Genome and Biomedical Sciences Facility (GBSF), a 232,000 sq. ft., Garamendi funded research facility.
Job Summary
Work closely with the MMRRC Manager and Importation Coordinator, as well as distribution staff to maintain up-to-date information on mouse models. Provide technical assistance to distribution staff and to external scientific users on UC Davis MMRRC distributed mutant models. Provide scientific technical support for external users.
Perform data entry using various software programs. Create regular monthly progress reports for submission to the National Institutes of Health.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education/Experience:
- Experience in laboratory mouse care, including mutant colony management and mouse husbandry.
- Experience with techniques used to create mutant mouse models.
- Experience in organizing data for databases, presentation and reporting.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :
- Theoretical knowledge in Animal Science, Biology, Genetics or related field.
- Strong background in scientific research.
- Knowledge of genetics and genetic mutations.
- Knowledge of mouse strains used for genetic manipulations. Skill to interpret mouse strain nomenclature.
- Skill to review scientific publications and extract necessary data for curation of mouse models.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Education/Experience:
- Experience providing customer service in scientific field.
- Experience in assisting with manuscript preparation and submission.
- Background in communications.
