Contract EMS Instructors provide and support the EMS Division in the delivery of pre-hospital education.
Job Summary
The Contract EMS Instructor provides instruction and training for EMS classes offered by and through the UC Davis Fire Department and participates in program planning, implementation, and evaluation of EMS courses and students. These classes include but are not limited to the Paramedic, EMT, CPR, and EMS CE Classes.
Must be available to work on Fridays as needed for the paramedic program. Additional working days throughout the week may be assigned and may require working weekends and evenings.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Moderate physical activity.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Additional Minimum License/Certification:
- Certification/Licensure CA licensure as EMT-Paramedic, EMT or other related medical license for EMS classes is required.
Minimum Education/Experience:
- Successful completion of an EMS or fire instructor course for the disciplines in which the instructor is teaching.
- Have at least two (2) years of academic or clinical experience in the practice of emergency medicine or prehospital care in the last five (5) years.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :
- Demonstrated teaching and educational facilitation skills.
- Knowledge of adult learning theory and methodologies.
- Knowledge of California State EMS educational program accreditation processes and standards.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Additional Preferred License/Certification:
- Instructor Certifications in any or all of the following Certification Courses- ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, AMLS, and/or TECC.
Preferred Education/Experience:
- Forty (40) hours of documented teaching methodology instruction in areas related to methods, materials, and evaluation of instruction.
- Previous volunteer or paid experience working for the Fire Departments EMS Educational Programs.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :
- Skill to assess student performance and progress and to provide educational participants.
- Skill to adhere to established standards for educational quality.
