Job Summary

The Mail Processor will serve UCSF tenants and others who live and work within UCSF campus housing. This position will work under the supervision of the Customer Service Manager and is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day operations of the housing package centers, examples including Mission Bay Housing and The Tidelands. This includes sorting and distributing packages and mail to mailboxes, package lockers, ensuring accurate package handling and inventory, readdressing and forwarding mail, operating the Parcel Pending and Luxer Locker Managing system, conducting audits and working with tenants regarding mail or package issues. The Mail Processor may also be assigned other tasks related to general administrative tasks.

The Mail Processor is required to have articulate communication and good interpersonal skills. They must also have strong organizational skills, the ability to work with limited supervision and to handle tasks as assigned. Experience in handling personal property of others, private information, working with Mac computers, the internet, and accessing directory information from databases is preferred.

Based on department need, the work location for this position may be at any Housing Services offices where mail services and customer service are required. The successful candidate will be able to focus their attention to detail and accuracy, while experiencing regular interruptions. The location and schedule for this position may vary daily, subject to scheduling needs. Incumbent must wear closed toe shoe for safety, and must be able to push, pull, lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Housing Services is under the purview of the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Housing Services. Required Qualifications

  • High school graduation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Customer service experience.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite Products
  • Outgoing, friendly, and warm.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skill.
  • Ability to read and distinguish numbers
  • Ability to prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks with deadlines in a customer service setting under minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated skill necessary to collect, organize and disseminate information upon request.
  • Ability to operate internet web browsers.
  • Read, write, speak and understand English fluently.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs without assistance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work weekends as needed.
  • Knowledge of the UC systems, forms, policies, and structure.
  • Knowledge of UCSF Housing Services.
  • Minimum 1-year customer service experience
  • Basic knowledge of campus housing/property management mail systems.
