This professional
Community Education Specialist will use concepts to deliver and enhance standardized educational programs and volunteer educational programs as needed. Analyzes program content and delivery needs to determine effectiveness of current programs and identify underrepresented constituencies in the community. Participates in recruitment and outreach activities for assigned program.
Displays cultural competence and interpersonal skills needed to engage successfully with a diverse range of learners and educational program stakeholders, including youth and adults from underserved, rural, and tribal communities. Participates in recruitment, outreach, and educational program delivery and evaluation with appropriate documentation of process. Contributes to broader dissemination of educational materials and ensuring accessibility for diverse audiences.
***NOTE: This is a 80% Limited for 6 months appointment role; it will be working remote in San Luis Valley in Southwest rural Colorado communities.The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

- Associates degree in related area and one or more years of relevant experience and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Continuing education in related field required.
- Familiarity with working in rural settings.
- Working knowledge of departmental and organization policies and procedures; knowledge of educational program content and objectives.
- Working knowledge of delivering community educational programs.
- Working knowledge of current community education programs and trends.
- Working skills to produce and deliver programs.
- Working knowledge of conducting needs assessment.
- Good analytical skills to understand how business needs can be addressed through the development and delivery of training programs.
- Good reading, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, and good presentation skills.
- Skill in using business software systems in the completion of work assignments; i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint.
- Experience in educational outreach to youth from underserved communities.
