The job uses best practices and knowledge of Academic Advising to lead a team of other academic advisors and provide guidance to students within the University's graduate programs. Works independently to respond to complicated queries about students from faculty, parents, and staff. Should be as follows: The job uses best practices and knowledge of Academic Advising to lead a team of other academic advisors and provide guidance to students within the University's graduate/undergraduate programs. Works independently to respond to complicated queries about students from faculty, parents, and staff.1) Designs, implements and maintains student academic and administrative policies. Translates specialized knowledge of academic functions to complicated advising matters. Has a deep understanding of the activities of Study Abroad/ International Programs and functions for the University's graduate and undergraduate programs., 2) Manages on-boarding efforts related to coursework and academic planning delivered through various channels and on-line tools. Works mostly independently to facilitate graduation-related functions related to academic and degree requirements., 3) Acts as a main point of contact and recommends process improvements for other University Schools and Divisions' joint-degree programs., 4) Has a deep understanding related to the development of programming for non-academic matters, such as health and wellness and curricular programming. Designs and produces material for the handbook and other academically-related publications., 5) Performs other related work as needed.Unit-Specific Responsibilities
1) The Associate Director of Academic Services serves as the primary contact for academic services for all Full-Time MBA, Evening MBA and Weekend MBA students, with the primary focus on supporting students and ensuring a successful experience.
2) This individual is responsible for a large portion of the academic interface that supports the students’ Program of Study audit across the Full-Time, Evening, and Weekend MBA Program in addition to academic data processing and integrity, academic advising, growth and collaboration strategies, and other direction of the Academic Services team to ensure a successful MBA program experience.
3) Advise students on course selection/planning and help manage career and professional goals during their program of study.
4) Educate and communicate with students about academic policies and requirements to ensure they have a successful academic experience.
5) Oversee specialized academic support for joint degree students.
6) Manage Dean’s Honor List and Awards process across all programs.
7) Oversee communication plan for Full-Time MBA, Evening MBA and Weekend MBA Program students and Chicago Booth staff.
8) Serve as point of contact for STEM concentration.
9) Provide oversight to assure the accurate processing of registration, academic records, and degree completion requirements.
10) Assist the Dean of Students with the editing of the Chicago Booth Student Handbook.
11) Assist the Director in the development and production of statistical reports as it relates to academic advising and trends.
12) Participate in the design and implementation of orientation for Full-Time MBA, Evening MBA and Weekend MBA Program students, including schedules, events, materials, and attendance at orientation events.
13) Process all GSAL coursework taken prior to matriculation for Full-Time MBA, Evening MBA and Weekend MBA Programs.
14) In collaboration with the Assistant Director, manage the Spring Quarter remote exam process.
15) Liaise with other Booth and University administrative offices to resolve administrative problems and to ensure timely processing of information.
16) Completes special projects and undertakes additional duties for Academic Services as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Certifications

Education
1) Bachelor’s degree.
2) Master’s degree in an academically related field.
Experience
1) At least five years of responsible experience in higher education.
2) At least five years in academic advising, including a strong understanding of MBA curriculum.
