Job Summary
The Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences at the University of Colorado Boulder seeks to hire a Temporary Hourly Employee within our Education and Outreach Program. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in climate education at K-16 levels, national climate education resources and networks, connections with local and national teachers, and experience working with teachers on climate education. Ideally, the candidate is familiar with the CLEAN project and the Right Here Right Now Global Climate Summit.

Right Here, Right Now Global Climate Summit
As a global leader in climate, environmental and energy research, the University of Colorado Boulder is proud to partner with United Nations Human Rights to co-host the Right Here, Right Now Global Climate Summit in December 2022.
From rising sea levels, extreme weather events, wildfires and droughts, to food insecurity, health impacts, mass migrations and increasing global conflict, there is no denying climate change is a humanitarian crisis. By gathering some of the world's foremost human rights, scientific, political, educational, cultural and industry leaders, we hope that, together, we can commit to specific outcomes that will address the adverse effects of climate change on human rights.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Develop and curating a collection of climate education resources guided by the three themes of the Right Here Right Now Global Climate Summit
- Collection of educational materials
- Development of wireframe for website
- Facilitate review process
- Develop text that provides context and tips on how to use materials in classrooms
- Plan and Develop Panel for Youth and Educators during the summit
- Recruit teachers and youth for in-person and virtual panels
- Recruit panelists
- Develop discussion materials and hands-on activities for the panel discussion
- Facilitate panel discussions
- Support development of educational resources developed out of the summit content
- Develop teacher professional development credit option
- Recruit teachers to participate and contribute
- Facilitate the development of materials using summit content
What You Should Know
- Temporary positions at the University of Colorado are not benefits-eligible, however, all positions are eligible for paid sick leave.
- This is a temporary position for an event that will take place in December 2022.
- All University of Colorado Boulder employees are required to comply with the campus COVID-19 vaccine requirement. New employees must provide proof of vaccination or receive a medical or religious exemption within 30 days of employment.

What We Require
- Graduate degree in relevant field (environmental science, education, climate communication).
- Experience working with educators, youth and national climate education groups and networks.
- Experience and extensive knowledge of climate change education.
- Knowledge of the climate education community at CU, in the greater Boulder area and nationally.
What You Will Need
- Ability to work closely with teachers, youth, climate education providers and leadership of the Right Here Right Now Summit.
- Excellent writing, communication and time management skills.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
What We Would Like You To Have
- Experience in facilitating panels.
- Experience in implementing education review process.
