This position will function as the primary Academic Advisor for approximately 400 undergraduate students in any of the 9 majors offered in the School of Business Administration (SBA), fostering a successful experience from matriculation to graduation.
Other duties include: connecting students to relevant student success resources; providing appropriate advising on scheduling and academic plans; applying intervention protocols for advisees on academic probation; consulting on major changes; participating in open houses and group visits with Enrollment Management for prospective students; conducting meetings for students interested in transferring into the School of Business Administration from other academic units on campus; evaluating transfer credits from schools outside of the University of Dayton, advising students on the transferability of courses from other universities to the University of Dayton, and advising students on study abroad opportunities and the transferability of coursework from universities abroad; certifying students for graduation; and communicating and upholding School of Business Administration policies, procedures, and practices.
This position works collaboratively with campus partners, SBA faculty, and staff to provide resources to ensure their advisees are fully engaged academically and on campus. As such, the position responsibilities include: providing students support identifying and pursuing their vocational journey, providing accurate advising on scheduling and academic planning, managing concerns raised through the Student Success Network, using campus resources and identifying relevant co-curricular opportunities.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience working with diverse populations in a college educational setting.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others in teams.
Experience completing projects.
Interpersonal and customer service skills.
Must have working knowledge of basic office information technology and systems, and of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act law protecting the privacy of student education records.
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, or Business Administration from an accredited college or university.
Three or more years experience in advising or other higher education position.
Strong interpersonal communication skills.
