Overview
Manages the day to day operations of the inpatient units, including nursing staffing, staff competency, and compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements. Follows up with patient/family satisfaction issues, incidents. Facilitates nursing staff development. Works with staff to manage complex patient care issues. Promotes staff self governance activities. Ensures cooperative relationships with other members of the interdisciplinary and other hospital departments. Contributes to the preparation of the budgets and in budget management. Coordinates nursing measures in quality improvement and risk management activities.Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Master's degree in nursing required. Current staff without MSN must obtain degree by December 2012 or as contracted by the VP/AVP. National nursing board certification in specialty area required. Current staff without professional nursing board certification in specialty area must obtain certification as contracted by the VP/AVP. Minimum of five years professional nursing practice experience required in the clinical specialty. Demonstrates leadership and management skills with knowledge and application of advanced professional nursing practice, CQI process, nursing care delivery models, health care delivery systems, and budgetary process. Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred: experience in quality improvement, risk management and in JCAHO preparations; is knowledgeable regarding the Florida Mental Health law. Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: Employees in this position: Will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Active Florida RN license.
