What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Supervisor position at University of Florida?
Manages and coordinates activities of Plumbing mechanics engaged in the operation, maintenance and repairs of the Plumbing systems for HSC and/or Vet-Med and related facilities. This includes the repair and maintenance of existing Plumbing including domestic water, air compressors, sanitary sewer, gas lines and all related Plumbing systems. Plans and schedules work for assigned staff, ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate staffing levels. Establishes and updates maintenance standards and priorities. Develops, estimates, and manages Plumbing/Pools improvements and renewal projects for current and future budgeting cycles.
Guides, trains, and gives assistance to employees engaged in daily Plumbing maintenance tasks and projects. Inspects completed assignments to ensure that satisfactory work quality operating procedures, efficiency, progress, methods and practices, safety, and other established standards and requirements are satisfactorily met and maintained. Reviews and updates Plumbing/Pools maintenance specifications based on the best use of personnel, budget constraints and trades practices.
Establishes and maintains direct personal contact with a wide spectrum of campus community members affected and/or concerned with the quality, safety and comfort of the conditions within the buildings. Consults with these customers regarding concerns about maintenance frequencies, etc. standards. consults, coordinates, and plans with other University Departments and organizations to provide support for any Plumbing deficiencies.
Establishes equipment and supply maintenance budgets and assures accountability. Initiates purchase of supplies, services, tools, and equipment in accordance with established purchasing procedures. Plans, develops and manages efficient, economical preventive maintenance of tools and equipment assigned to the Plumbing Shop, including schedules and activities to ensure prolonged life, usefulness and safety of equipment to minimize water intrusion and hazards.
Participates in the Department computerized work management system and utilizes pertinent management reports to evaluate and improve Plumbing maintenance and operational performance and recommends any deferred maintenance items.
Personnel Management - Ensures the Plumbing personnel are properly trained and updated in proper maintenance/operations practices, safety, and regulatory issues. Provides an employee support system for improved production and efficiencies. Provides performance feedback to employees regarding performance and the results of plumbing inspections. Performs employee interviews and select new hires.
Drives a State UF vehicle; requires incumbent possess a valid Class “E” Driver’s License
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, may vary due to projects, emergencies, or on-call/stand-by as required
A criminal background check will be conducted.
$60,000 - $65,000 Yearly based on experience.
Completion of an approved apprenticeship program in a recognized trade and relevant experience to total five years; or a high school diploma or equivalent and five years of relevant experience. Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Five years direct supervisory experience in the field of Plumbing systems or a combination of education and experience. Experience in an institutional research setting.
Proficient in computer skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook E-Mail.

Salary : $60,000 - $65,000
