The University of Georgia Facilities Management Division is the largest of seven (7) divisions reporting to the Vice President for Finance and Administration. The exceptional staff of over 900 personnel within the division manage, operate and maintain campus landscapes, buildings and infrastructure to promote the long-term sustainability of the University.

Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, formal training programs, or on-the-job training. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Position Summary
This is manual work at the journeyman level in the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing and heating systems. Work involves performance of skilled plumbing tasks in maintaining, repairing, and servicing a variety of fixtures and equipment. Routine maintenance, service, and repair work is performed independently. Assignments are normally received orally or through written work orders. Work is inspected on completion for conformity to instructions and quality of work.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Read and interpret building plans, sketches, building schematics, and blueprints.
  • Experience and knowledge of the general plumbing trade to include repair, installation and maintenance of plumbing & heating systems.
  • Read and understand oral and written instructions.
Physical Demands
  • Bend, stoop, stand, squat, work with hands above head, work from a standard and/or extended ladder and lift up to 75 lbs. throughout the day.
  • Work in a very limited space and/or cramped areas.
  • Work under adverse weather conditions (i.e. hot, cold, rain).

Repairs and inserts valves and ball cocks, packs faucets, repairs waste, sewage, and drainage pipes, replaces broken fixtures and installs new fixtures, caulks and packs joints.
