Job Description
Provides leadership to the Library Technical Services and Systems Department, which includes services in monographic, serials, music and interlibrary loan units. Assumes responsibility for implementing and maintaining all aspects of computing and information technology for the University Libraries. Performs all duties in full support of the University's brand, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the University of Hartford's core business - the education of students.

Description of Key Responsibility: Oversees the support and maintenance of University Libraries computing and information technology systems. In collaboration with appropriate Libraries and University personnel, implements necessary upgrades as well as expansions of networks and systems. Determines short and long term strategic hardware and software needs and recommends the purchase of necessary equipment.

Description of Key Responsibility: Ensures technical expertise and support for library services are provided to faculty, students, staff and patrons.

Description of Key Responsibility: Creates and promotes a service-oriented environment that is committed to supporting students educational goals by providing a high-quality library experience. Establishes departmental priorities, polices, and procedures to ensure expeditious acquisition and through bibliographic control of and access to materials. Provides leadership, management, guidance and evaluation to the Library Technical Services and Systems staff.

Description of Key Responsibility: Serves as an integral member of the Library Council. Represents the Library on various internal and external committees. As a member of the Collection Development Committee, advises on the status of acquisition funds and provides regular reports on expenditures. Establishes, cultivates and maintains cooperative relationships with faculty in the determination of curriculum needs, serving as a subject selector, as necessary and appropriate.

Description of Key Responsibility: Establishes, cultivates and maintains effective working relationships with external vendors. Identifies and participates in cooperative or consortial arrangements beneficial to the University Libraries.

Description of Key Responsibility: Maintains awareness of trends and advances in the field through participation in relevant professional organizations. Attends conferences and meetings to promote and ensure continuing professional development.

Description of Key Responsibility: Oversees the budget for Resource and Metadata Services to ensure prudent fiscal management. Develops accurate statistical reports for the Director on all serials budget requirements to assist in making appropriate recommendations

Formal Education:
Masters Degree of Library Science from an A.L.A accredited institution required.

Work Experience:
Normal office situation. Requires travel, including overnight staysMay work evenings and/or weekends.
