Marketing Communications Manager, Visual and Performing Arts

Job Description
Assumes responsibility for overseeing the development and execution of an integrated, multi-channel marketing strategythat supports institutional priorities and promotes the school to prospective students, parents, alumni, donors, the campuscommunity and the public. Performs all duties in full support of the University's mission, understanding that the positiveand effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University's students.

Description of Key Responsibility: Manages all aspects of strategic marketing collateral development as directed by annual plans developed by the school and the Office of Marketing and Communication.
Establishes, cultivates and effectively collaborates with internal and external constituencies in an effort to conduct research, identify photography and collect supporting assets for creation and update of recruitment publications, social media, e-communications and website content.

Description of Key Responsibility: Executes and oversees marketing communications plans in support of strategic initiatives of the school and the University. Serves as the lead project manager for marketing materials and collateral, from concept through production. Facilitates the concept, design and execution of strategic recruitment and other communications in alignment with institutional, campaign and admission cycles. Reviews and communicates content, design and layout in an effort to comply with established institutional policies and brand guidelines. Works with the media and editorial team to proofread all stages of production and ensure corrections, updates and changes are incorporated into the final copy for a high-quality product.

Description of Key Responsibility: Proactively sets and maintains the production schedule for recruitment and promotional efforts. Identifies creative, copywriting, editing or other needs as necessary and appropriate. Effectively
communicates expectations regarding content and design of publications and websites as well as quantities and deadlines and follows production through to completion within established time frames.

Description of Key Responsibility: Actively participates in market research responsibilities including, but not limited to, advertising, marketing and media opportunities in an effort to expand the visibility of the school. Develops and
manages content for social networks, UNotes and regional and national media outlets which positively position the University. Serves as Hartt and Hartford Art Schools web content manager. Identifies and develops feature stories and promotes student and faculty accomplishments including, but not limited to, honors, nominations and awards, consistent with the institutional mission and vision for the University website, H Magazine and social media. Plans, oversees and supports events which promote and enhance the school and support strategic initiatives and long-term goals. Promotes collegiate events by confirming up-to-date information and effective event descriptions are strategically positioned on the college and University websites as well with local industry community partners.

Description of Key Responsibility: Tracks and evaluates marketing activities for effectiveness using measurable goals and outcomes. Recommends and adapts strategies and procedures for future planning and goals. Maintains enrollment trends and provides survey data for the school as necessary and appropriate.

Formal Education:
Bachelors Degree required.

Work Experience:
Normal office situation. Requires travel, excluding overnight stays.

Problem solving involves identification and analysis of diverse issues.

Analytic: Supervisor is available to establish broad objectives relative to basic position duties or departmental responsibilities. Independent judgment is required to study previously established, often partially relevant guidelines; plan for various interrelated activities; and coordinate such activities within a work unit or while completing a project.

Requires regular contacts to discuss issues of moderate importance and to respond to inquiries. Also requires continuing contact with officials at higher levels on matters requiring cooperation, explanation and persuasion.

External Communication:
Requires regular external contacts to discuss issues of moderate importance and to respond to inquiries. Occasionally requires contact with the public involving the enforcement of regulations, policies and procedures.

Customer Relations
Contact with customers is face-to-face or over the telephone for directly selling/representing a variety of products and capabilities.

Managerial Skills
Has responsibility or authority which is limited to the direction of temporary or student workers.

Knowledge and Skills
Professional Skills: Requires knowledge of theories and practices of a professional field. This level of skill is typically reserved for an individual with a four-year degree, or a high-level vocational skill demonstrated by a number of years of on-the job experience (i.e., management). Writes reports using technical data requiring considerable interpretation, developing new methods and procedures. Frequently applies knowledge to practical issues and problems.
