Other Conditions
Nine months of state funding annually. The selectee is expected to fund the remainder through extramural funds. Anticipated start date is January 1, 2023 or as mutually agreed.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Conduct research that addresses central problems in global ocean biogeochemistry, including, but not limited to, large-scale cycles of nutrients, organic matter or trace elements, organic and/or isotope geochemistry, paleoceanography, or biogeochemical modeling.
2. Develop and sustain a vigorous extramurally-supported, collaborative research program that complements existing expertise in the department and school.
3. Conduct outstanding classroom teaching and mentoring of students in both the graduate Oceanography and undergraduate Global Environmental Science programs; and, provide service to the department, school, university, and larger scientific community.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Ph.D. in oceanography, marine science, geochemistry, or a closely related discipline no later than May 2022 from a university of recognized standing.
2. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
3. Demonstrated capability for creative, high-quality research.
4. Demonstrated ability to effectively teach and mentor a diverse population of undergraduate and graduate students.

Desirable Qualifications
1. Conduct research that contributes to interdisciplinary collaboration, utilizes the oceanographic setting of Hawai'i, or leverages UH research capabilities.
