We are temporarily located at the Manoa Innovation Center. This is not a remote position.
Duties and Responsibilities (NOTE: ** denotes Essential Functions)
**Helps the Director of the Office of Strategic Health Initiatives (OSHI) establish strategic priorities for addressing the Red Hill water contamination crisis.
**Guides OSHI's health initiatives related to the Red Hill water contamination crisis.
**Identifies key community stakeholders to further engage with.
**Collaborates with stakeholders through direct outreach and community meetings to facilitate partnerships and community networks.
**Manages the development of community outreach materials, such as brochures, website(s), mailings.
Education and Professional Work Experience
Possession of a baccalaureate degree in health sciences, environmental studies, environmental sciences, social sciences, communications or related field and 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for strategic collaborations resulting in effective community outreach; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of health or environmental issues as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with health or environmental issues.
Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
If applicable, for supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
Supplemental Minimum Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to actively engage with the community, build strong relationships, and raise awareness about a particular topic.
Ability to understand community dynamics, often in a highly intense environment.
Ability to foster trust with diverse groups through education, communication and research.
Desirable Qualifications
Direct experience with the Red Hill (Kapukaki) water contamination crisis on O'ahu.
