Position Summary:
The Lionel Hampton School of Music at the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho invites applications for an Instructor of Trombone, a full-time appointment beginning August 2024. Responsibilities include teaching music major trombone lessons commensurate with departmental needs, coaching brass chamber music, and participating in faculty chamber ensembles. This faculty member may teach other courses to be determined by qualifications and departmental needs, as assigned by the director. This faculty member will actively recruit and retain students and participate in School of Music, CLASS and University committees and events.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Masters degree in music;
- Experience teaching trombone;
- Experience with performing at a professional level.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in music;
- Record of success teaching trombone at the collegiate level;
- Ability to teach other courses depending on the needs of the department and the applicants qualifications;
- Demonstrated ability to recruit and retain students;
- Strong communication/interpersonal skills with a flexible attitude and ability to work collaboratively.
