Summary:
Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Auxiliary Services, the University of Illinois Springfield Student Union Director oversees the total operation of the Union including the direction and determination of goals, objectives, and the means to achieve these goals by management of services, budget management and development, and serving on various committees. The Director responsibilities include publications, reports, and working with students, campus departments, and the public on event planning/special events. This position serves as the primary communication link between the Student Union and other campus departments and the community. This position will also represent the university as a member of the Association of College Unions International.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Minimum Qualifications:
A Master's degree in Higher Education or other appropriate discipline is required. Minimum qualifications include 8 years of progressive experience within Student Affairs. Experience in the operation of a student union in a higher education institution; a demonstrated ability to lead and direct a medium size complex organization which provides programs and services that are essential to the student, staff, and faculty community; a thorough understanding of how the union functions as a part of Student Affairs and the University at large; a demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse constituent groups; familiarity with State of Illinois System services.
