Description:

Under general supervision of the Director of Strategic Communication, the Information Technology Technical Associate I (Web Specialist) provides technical website support in the preliminary design, layout and functionality of the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria website while providing support to UICOMP units including education, research, administrative, and clinical areas. Working collaboratively with the IT Technology Associate II (Webmaster), the Web Specialist will provide preliminary analysis of data, coordinate content, evaluate and implement the appropriate web-based technologies and systems in meeting the interests of the UICOMP units while being mindful of the target audience. This person will assist in monitoring and evaluating Search Engine Optimization as well as monitor web analytics and make preliminary recommendations to meet marketing objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities


  • Track and monitor project metrics, including such parameters as time and cost; assist departments/units with determining project costs and budget development. Participate in development and ongoing maintenance of the UICOMP website, including GME programs as it pertains to UICOMP residency and fellowships including the annual recruitment of new residents and fellows. Assist with the development and deployment of multi-media messaging which may include but is not limited to: social media; lobby display monitors; digital advertising; email message development and distribution; video content; and/or podcast. Continuously develop current job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and/or participating in professional organizations. Assist in the application of web-based e-commerce software.
  • Participate in integrated marketing efforts involving multi-media messages (such as both printed materials and web-based messages). Provide input into marketing and brand strategy discussions relevant to the Peoria regional campus and/or UICOMP departments and units in developing messages and deliverables. Advises unit and campus staff on the general design and authoring or web pages.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications


  • Any combination totaling two (2) years from the following categories:
    • progressively more responsible work experience in an Information Technology (IT) related profession
    • college course work which included Information Technology (IT), IT Management, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
      • 60 semester hours or Associate's Degree equals one (1) year
      • 90-120 semester hours or Bachelor's Degree equals two (2) years
  • Additional education, training, and/or work experience in an area of specialization inherent to the position may be required:


Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a field closely related to the discipline, such as graphic design, journalism, English or communications preferred. Demonstrated experience with University web authoring tools preferred. One or more years of experience in web page preparation, design, and maintenance preferred.
Demonstrated experience with University Wordpress template preferred. Experience with HTML, CSS, multiple content management systems preferred; involvement in large-scale website redesigns preferred.PhotoShop skills preferred; experience using InDesign, Premiere Pro and Illustrator preferred. Proficiency with Google Analytics preferred; familiarity with Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 preferred.
