Position Title: IT Systems Specialist

Responsibilities:
The University of Louisiana at Lafayette University Libraries is seeking an IT Systems Specialist to join their team. Reporting to the IT Coordinator, the successful candidate will be responsible for various tasks related to the management, maintenance, and support of library websites, applications, and systems.
The key responsibilities of the IT
Systems Specialist include:
-Website
and Application Administration: Managing selected library websites and
applications, which involves adding content, customization, and ongoing
maintenance for the main library website, library research guides
platform, and other library resources.
-Library
System Administration: Serving as a backup library system
administrator, assisting with the management of the Integrated Library
System (ILS), and supporting client software installations.
-Equipment Deployment and Inventory: Assisting with the deployment and inventory management of library equipment.
-Technical
Support: Responding to calls for assistance, questions, and requests
from library staff. Troubleshooting hardware, software, and other
technical issues in both library staff and public areas.
-Knowledge of Library Systems: Maintaining a working knowledge of library systems, workflows, and equipment.
-Project Support: Providing leadership and support for library projects and initiatives.
-Professional
Development: Attending meetings, training sessions, and conferences
related to the LOUIS consortium system administration, as well as state,
regional, and national conferences to stay updated on technological
developments, issues, and opportunities.
-Statistical Analysis and Reporting: Performing statistical analyses and preparing an annual report for the department.
-Committee Involvement: Serving on designated library and university committees.
This

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
-A
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science,
Informatics, Information Technology) and 2 years of full-time work
experience in an IT role
-OR
an Associate degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science,
Informatics, Information Technology) and 4 years of full-time work
experience in an IT role.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and proficiency in at least one additional general-purpose programming language.
-Experience in system administration and help desk support.
-Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
-Good interpersonal, oral, written, analytical, and organizational skills.
-Effective communication and collaboration with other library and university departments.
-Promptness in responding to requests and the ability to perform duties efficiently.
-A positive attitude towards co-workers and job duties, with a willingness to help others achieve their objectives.
-Ability to work with and support a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and community members.
