The University of Louisville Division of Infectious Diseases is seeking to fill a Registered Nurse position. The primary function is to assist in the effective and efficient functioning of the University of Louisville's Travel Clinic and Civil Surgeon Program. The Registered Nurse will coordinate clinic flow by greeting and interacting with patients, preparing and documenting patient information in the chart, and assisting providers during exams. The Registered Nurse will provide pre-travel counseling and immunizations for the International Travel Clinic patients, as well as assist with Vaccine Clinic, including administering vaccines and training students in proper vaccine protocol. The Registered Nurse will also coordinate day-to-day activities of the Civil Surgeon program including scheduling patients, preparing patient charts, obtaining vital signs, administering vaccines, and documenting patient visits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide pre-travel counseling and immunizations for the Vaccine and International Travel Clinic patients.
- Select and administer vaccines to adults, adolescents, and children.
- Assist with activities related to vaccine research.
- Develop and implement community outreach regarding immunization and global health.
- Coordinate day-to-day activities of Travel Clinic and Civil Surgeon Program including scheduling patients, preparing patient charts, obtaining test results indicated for the type of examination, administering vaccines, completing all required government forms, and documenting patient visits.
- Assist Civil Surgeons in directing the activity of the civil surgeon program based on needs of patients.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
