Statement of the Job:
The University of Maine at Fort Kent (UMFK) is looking to hire a Student Activities Coordinator. The Student Activities Coordinator develops and implements a comprehensive program of extra and co-curricular student activities for all students that cover a broad range of topics, including cultural and social diversity, environmental stewardship, community development, personal health and development including recreational activities, life skills, community service, and campus spirit. The Student Activities Coordinator also assists in the management and delivery of residential life services.

This position works closely with all Student Affairs staff, including the Director of Residential Life and the Dean of Students. In addition, the Student Activities Coordinator works closely with Facilities Management, the Student Senate, Student Activities Board, UMFK Foundation members, Business Office, Student Success, Career Planning, TRIO, Administrative Services, and the faculty in matters pertaining to extra and co-curricular programs and student development.

Based on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant, the salary for this full year on campus position is $41,401 plus a 10% employer contribution to the UMS retirement plan. Additional benefits include medical, dental, vision, and tuition waiver programs for employees and dependents. The UMS is a recipient of the Wellness Councils of America’s Well Workplace Award and offers wellness programs.

The successful candidate will be expected to live on campus and will work Monday-Friday and may include nights, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills. Must utilize a high level of creativity, innovation, and project management skills. Experience in higher education student life or activities preferred. Background in college student personnel, Higher education administration, Residence Life, international student services, or related fields is an asset.

Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Demonstrated interest and abilities in student or personal development activities.
  • Ability to transport students normally requiring a valid drivers license.
