The Disability Resources Office collaborates with the university community to increase awareness, remove barriers, and promote an inclusive environment for students with disabilities. The office is a primary resource for students who seek accommodations for disability at UMW.

General Description of Position
The Operations and Testing Manager is responsible for coordinating support with instructional faculty/staff and students to provide assistance in meeting testing accommodation needs of students with approved testing-related accommodations due to disability. Students with approved testing-related accommodations are enrolled at the University of Mary Washington and have documented disabilities with the Office of Disability Resources, including neurological, learning, AD/HD, psychological, health-related, and physical disabilities.

The Operations and Testing Manager will manage the ODR Testing Center Policies and Procedures; scheduling, receiving and returning of exams; maintaining accurate records of testing center use; and managing use of assistive technology used by the ODR testing center for approved accommodation needs. The Test Administrator is responsible for managing student and faculty/staff issues and answering questions regarding the supports and processes/policies of the Testing Center. The Test Administrator is responsible for training, supervising, and scheduling of student worker staff providing assistance within the Testing Center.

The Operations and Testing Manager also provides administrative support to ODR staff; assistance with the implementation of ODR policies and procedures; and purchasing responsibilities. The Operations and Testing Manager also provides assistance to the Director as needed, including responsibilities related to data collection, training, programming, research, and marketing. As part of the ODR staff, the Operations and Testing Manager is responsible for ensuring programs and services are provided in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.

Supervisory and/or managerial skills

Working knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA) of 2009, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and other federal and state laws pertaining to higher education and disability services

Required Education
Associate’s degree in Education, Special Education, Disability Studies, Counseling, Sociology, Psychology, or other closely related field, or equivalent training and experience.

Required Experience
Experience in service/support field.

Experience with budgeting/purchasing responsibilities.

Familiarity with responsibilities of providing administrative support to an office/department.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and the willingness to learn the campus computer software for student information and other administrative systems.

Preferred Education
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, Disability Studies, Counseling, Sociology, Psychology, or other closely related field.

Preferred Experience
Experience in a college support service.
Perform administrative duties in support of testing services.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, faculty, and staff from a broad range of programs and disciplines.

Knowledge of assistive technologies, auxiliary aids, and supports for individuals with disabilities.

Proficiency in Accommodate by Symplicity.
