What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Coordinator: Pharmaceutical Sciences position at University of Maryland Eastern Shore?
- Contributes to the research activities of Pharmaceutical Sciences faculty members including designing and performing experiments, analyzing data, and preparing research results for publication.
- Operates under the supervision of a Pharmaceutical Sciences faculty members, Pharmaceutical Lab for pharmacy and graduate students including preparation of stock material and supplies,
- Supervises and assists students as they conduct experiments (such as the compounding of pharmaceuticals); and ensuring compliance with all safety procedures in accordance with University policy.
- Opportunities are available to teach and facilitate student learning for pharmacy and graduate students in Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, Molecular Biology, and Pharmacy Calculations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- PhD or M.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, or equivalent discipline.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of cellular and molecular biology.
- Experience in laboratory and biohazard management.
- Three years of experience in teaching in a pharmacy student lab.
- Publication in the field of neuronal cell culture, RNA isolation, quantitative PCR/RT-PCR, protein extraction, Western Blot, immunofluorescent assays.
- Experience in chromatin immunoprecipitation, HPLC, GC/MS, syntheses of nanomaterials, etc.
- Certification of laboratory biosafety and responsible conduct of research such as Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative certificate.
