The Frost School of Music has an exciting opportunity for a temporary part-time Music Teacher to work in the Coral Gables Campus.
The Frost Preparatory Program is a pre-college music program for children ages 0-18. We offer group and private lesson instruction on various instruments, as well as theory and other ensembles. The Program is seeking to hire a teacher for its Little Canes division for 1-6 hours per week. The Little Canes program has 230 enrolled students, ages 0-5, in once weekly music classes. Classes are 35 minutes long and would be led by the teacher, with an assistant. Classes will have 5-10 students, plus a caretaker.
The teacher would be responsible for assisting and /or leading classes, preparing class materials and lesson plans, and any other related responsibilities as needed. An ideal candidate would have a growth mindset and be dedicated to growing their classes and the program.
Requirements:
A minimum of at least a Bachelors degree in a music field (or degree in progress) and a love for children and music education. Relevant fields would be music therapy, instrument performance, musical theater, etc. The ability to play at least one instrument while leading classes (piano, guitar, or ukelele), and a pleasant singing voice. Great interpersonal skills and a confident, friendly personality are a must. An ideal candidate would also have the ability to multitask, improvise and change plans on the spot, and be a confident leader. And most importantly, love working with children.
