Administer critical information technology systems for Michigan Dining, including meal plan and campus funds (blue bucks and dining dollars) management, food production management, and point-of-sale hardware and software. Manage all technology interfaces between the associated technologies. Be a systems expert for Michigan Dining.

What You'll Do

  • Administer current meal plan and stored value plan systems (Blue Bucks, Dining Dollars, MDining Gift Cards).
  • Coordinate data imports for Blue Bucks, Dining Dollars and meal plans at the start of each term; Monitor online meal plan change requests; process routine meal plan/ Dining Dollar/Blue Bucks adjustments/refunds.
  • As part of summer operations, coordinate with Conference Services to configure meal plans for conference guests; remove meal plans at the end of the conference.
  • Administer sales and management of meal plans/Blue Bucks/Dining Dollars interface to current meal plan and stored value plan systems and POS system.
  • Work with the Student Life Billing Office to ensure accuracy of meal plans in database and correct billing of students, and the balancing and reconciliation of Blue Bucks and Dining Dollars.
  • Reconcile vendor Blue Bucks payments on a monthly basis. Be a liaison to U-M Flint Auxiliary Services, supporting meal plan and stored value plan systems on the Flint Campus.
  • Work with Student Life IT and Campus IT to ensure full functionality of the application.
  • Ensure the accuracy of meal plan information on the Michigan Dining public website.
  • Answer student and parent inquiries about meal plans by phone and email.
  • Prepare routine reports and responds to requests for custom reports and data.
  • Configure and maintain hardware for transactions related to meal plan and stored value plan systems.
  • Help manage Blue Bucks service contracts with lease partners and Student life partners.
  • Provide back-up Support to POS (Point of Sale) Hardware and Software tasks and Menu and Food Service Management Systems tasks.
  • Participate in evaluating new technologies for Michigan Dining; researches and recommends new modules, hardware, and technology.
  • Collaborate with technical and operational staff in the implementation of new systems and application upgrades; conduct tests.
  • Serve as a liaison to the Student Life Technology office, Housing Information Technology Office, Budget and Finance teams and Procurement Services team.
  • Provide training and support for all Michigan Dining Technology tools.
  • Develop system training materials, quick guides and operational documentation for computer systems.
  • Authors Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Policies to guide the appropriate use of technology.
  • Support departmental initiatives including student engagement and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

Required Qualifications*

Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, business administration, and related field or relevant experience of 2-3 years with some certifications or classes in a technology-related field.

High-level understanding of organizations' business systems and industry requirements.

Able to legally work in the United States without sponsorship.

Proficiency in common software or the equivalent Google applications.

Experienced in working within a collaborative team environment with emphasis on customer service.


Additional Information

Selected candidates whose start date is 4/1/2024 or after, will not be eligible for the university FY24-25 salary/merit plan unless otherwise notified.

This role may have reporting obligations under Title IX and Clery.

Salary may vary depending on qualifications, experience, and education of the selected candidate.

Relocation will not be offered for this position.

Authorization to work in the U.S. is a precondition of employment and applicants for this position will not be sponsored for work visas.
