Responsibilities*
The Engagement Specialist’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
- Alumni Volunteering Program - Manage and execute 30 minute and long-term mentoring with alumni and students using PeopleGrove. Long-term mentoring ~450 alums matched to ~450 students each year. 30-minute mentoring ~100 alums and ~500 students.
- Tracking and reporting alumni engagement activities, and student team members using Salesforce and DART. In addition, use Salesforce for event input, newsletter list pulls, updating individual’s preferences as well as tracking members of student orgs & teams
- Manage the creation of monthly alumni engagement newsletter using Marketing Cloud for alumni, faculty, and staff, and students.
- Manage the logistics and execution of the annual Xplore and Discover Engineering events for alumni and kids. Xplore (450 people) and Discover is (350 people).
- Lead the creation and rollout of new alumni engagement initiatives to expand alumni participation throughout the College.
- Co-lead the alumni engagement community of practice. Lead and support alumni college-wide engagement projects.
- Support the Dean’s Leadership Advisory Board and the Michigan Engineering Alumni Board with logistics, subcommittee coordination during the 2 semi-annual meetings, and general support.
- Department Open Houses, Majors Fair, and Engineering Research Symposium Judging - recruit and manage alumni volunteering for these events. ~150
- Alumni awards - manage the annual nomination process using InfoReady
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications*
- A bachelor’s degree with 3 or more years of relevant experience is preferred.
- One or more years of experience working in an alumni engagement or events environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to successfully work in collaborative teams.
- A dynamic personality with excellent interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to set and manage priorities (for self and for projects), handle multiple assignments and deadlines, and operate in a flexible, professional manner.
- Ability to adapt to change and thrive in an environment filled with change.
- Creativity for identifying and creating interesting and meaningful opportunities for alumni to engage with each other, current students, faculty, and the college.
- Ability to build productive relationships with faculty, staff, students, and others to help create interesting, fun, and meaningful opportunities for alumni to engage throughout all areas of the college.
Desired Qualifications*
- Salesforce user experience in generating reports and updating profiles.
- Marketing Cloud experience in creating and sending emails.
- InfoReady, and Peoplegrove experience.
Work Schedule
STARR Classification
This position is classified as a Mobile position in the STARR program. Upon completion of training the selected candidate will be required to be on-site as needed, typically 2-3 days per week.
