Summary

The College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) is looking for a Managing Director of the Opportunity Hub, Career Exploration and Engagement, reporting directly to the Assistant Dean of Student Development and Career Initiatives. The LSA Opportunity Hub supports liberal arts and sciences students as they develop their professional identities and aspirations. It provides students with career coaching and exploration, access to internships, internship funding, and connections to jobs, employers, and alums. Students can connect their classroom learning to purposeful work and meaningful lives. The Managing Director focuses on three primary areas of responsibility: (1) leadership and operational oversight; (2) organizational vision and strategic planning; and (3) stewardship of stakeholder relationships. This work includes overseeing alumni engagement, employer engagement, and student coaching and outreach.

LSA is the largest and one of the oldest of the university's 19 schools and colleges, with a long tradition of distinction in teaching and research across the liberal arts. The college offers more than 100 degree programs in over 75 academic departments and programs. What You'll Do

You will:

  • Provide leadership and operational oversight
  • Lead a team of approximately 30 employees; supervise 4-5 direct reports
  • Create a positive culture characterized by collaboration and creativity, transparency, trust and credibility, and a focus on well-being
  • Define and articulate a visionary direction while implementing strategic initiatives for long-term success
  • Cultivate meaningful partnerships with key stakeholders to enhance collaboration and mutually beneficial partnerships

Required Qualifications*

You have:

  • Graduate degree, or equivalent education and experience
  • 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience in a higher education setting
  • Knowledge of trends in internships, employment, the economy, effective career interventions, technology, and industry networks
  • A commitment to creating an organization that is diverse, inclusive, and equitable; high competence in collaborating with a variety of diverse stakeholders
  • Background or experience in career services or student services administration
  • Demonstrated history of successful supervisory experience
