- A High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to follow instructions both written and verbal in the English language and work alone.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds to shoulder height
Preferred Qualifications:
- Must be able to work without constant supervision and report to work on a timely and regular basis.
- Ability to complete required forms, paper work, time sheets, and other documents in a legible manner.
- Eye for detail
- Professional presentation and attitude
- Ability to maintain focus while working individually
- Valid Driver’s License
- Mechanical aptitude preferred
- Previous experience with hand and power tools
- Background/ understanding in general building maintenance and repair
This is a temporary maintenance position in UMD Housing and Residence Life
$15.00 per hour
This position performs general maintenance tasks from detailed instructions and reports directly to Maintenance Coordinator.
- Full-time or Part-time temporary maintenance positions within in the Housing Department.
- This temporary appointment may not exceed 67 working days.
- We offer flexible hours up to 40 hours/week
- Hours are 8:00AM-4:30PM but there may be hours available outside these.
- Typical work days are Monday-Friday but some weekend hours will be available
Duties:
- Perform light duty repairs throughout housing facilities
- Replaces worn or damaged parts, cabinet hardware, drawer glides, light bulbs, desk chairs, bed frames and mattresses.
- Exchange refrigerators, ovens, desks, wardrobes, and dressers as needed
- Assists unloading deliveries.
- Prepares apartments and resident halls for occupancy in accordance with turnover protocols.
- Receives written work orders or verbal instructions from supervisor
- Complete routine preventative maintenance on building equipment
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
