Sensitive Exam Patients (SEPs) are responsible for providing experiences to students in performing sensitive exams pertinent to Female Breast Exam, Female Pelvic Exam, Male Genitourinary and Rectal Exams. SEPs portray patients for formative learning and evaluation of health care students. In addition to portraying clinical case presentations, SEPs also evaluate students from the "patient" perspective.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide individual students with instruction in performing the sensitive components of the male and female physical exam.
* Provide coaching and feedback regarding proper techniques as outlined by the program objectives.
* Work in a professional manner when interacting with learners, supervisors, and faculty.
* Provide feedback to faculty regarding individual learner performance and professionalism as needed.
* Regular participation in training and meetings pertinent to sensitive exam patient portrayals
* Assist with training of new team members to support their growth and learning.
* Inform program of changes in contact information.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must possess the following skills:
- Dependability and punctuality with event assignments and email responsiveness
- Professionalism when interacting with learners, faculty/staff and SEP peers
- Ability to memorize case details in order to portray the role of a patient
- Ability to recall details to evaluate learners after each scenario
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort with allowing learners to conduct physical exams repeatedly
- Basic knowledge of web conferencing (Zoom, WebEx, Microsoft Teams) and common software (Microsoft Word)
Applicants must have the potential (and willingness) to develop the following skills with training and will be provided training and feedback by our program upon hire.
- Flexibility with assisting as facilitators and teachers
- Ability to deliver constructive, written and verbal feedback to learners
- Attendance at mandatory training sessions
Salary: $150.00 per hour.
Open until filled
Part time. Up to 12 hrs per week.
