Job Description

The mission of the Intercollegiate Athletics Olympic Nutrition team is to assist in providing our students with an exceptional student-athlete experience. This position will ensure our nutrition team is student-athlete focused and operating with integrity.

The Assistant AD/ Director of Nutrition for Olympic Sports is responsible for the leadership and development of nutritional programs for over 400 student-athletes including design, implementation, and evaluation of nutrition and health programs to maximize athletic performance and the overall well-being of the whole person.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Develop, lead, and manage effective programs to maximize the nutritional health and sports performance of all Olympic sports student-athletes.
  • Develop and provide strategies that will enhance student-athlete performance, reduce the risk of fatigue and injury, and increase the motivation to continue with healthy nutritional habits.
  • Working in collaboration with our mental health team, provide psychoeducation to student athletes and coaches.
  • Conduct individual sessions, feedback assessment and training, comprehensive nutrition focused assessments for both the student-athlete and team.
  • Maintain required certifications.
  • Collaborate with the Integrated Healthcare Team to further support holistic model and enhance student-athlete experience.
  • Ensure documentation and compliance with dietary plans, assessments and progress.
  • Provide brief interventions and counseling to address a range of health and wellness issues, which may result in providing resources and referring individuals to professionals to assist with confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of eating disorders and ability to effectively implement interventions to reduce the frequency, intensity, and duration of presenting symptoms.
    Participate in the collection and analysis of tactical and statistical data and assists in designing plans and strategies. Identify and offer solutions to complex problems that may impact the overall performance of student-athletes and ultimately, the team.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships and collaborations with a variety of stakeholders dedicated to the student-athletes success including sport administrators, senior staff members, nutritional athletic assistant director for football, coaches, sports medicine, health services, academics, athletic performance, dining hall, nutrition stations, etc.
  • Support and lead initiatives that enhance student-athlete performance, retention, and life-long success.
  • Provide ideas, strategies, and leadership to implement change and ensure effective stakeholder collaboration.
  • Consult with leaders and stakeholders to evolve the nutritional programs and vision into results.
  • Provide leadership and facilitation of professional development programming for head coaches, assistant coaches and athletic department staff.
  • Serve on committees and project teams.

The Assistant AD/Nutrition Director for Olympic Sports will provide transformational leadership, mentoring and supervision of clinical dietitians, interns and graduate assistants, supporting an inclusive and dynamic culture. Hire, train, develop and evaluate employee performance, ensuring a results-oriented environment dedicated to the success of the whole student.

Shift


Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm; Nights, Weekends, and Travel as required.


Minimum Qualifications


A Bachelor's degree in related/ relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary


Preferred Qualifications


Prior experience in Performance Nutrition


Anticipated Hiring Range


Salary Range: $90,000 - $98,000

Grade: GGS-MKT
