Job Description
Nature and Level of Work:
Perform skilled work on a journey level in the application of plaster to wall and ceiling surfaces, lath and other framework installation and dry wall finishing. All work is subject to spot-checking and inspection for conformance to specifications and accepted standards of the trade. Functional contacts include co-workers, other service department employees and other University staff and students.
Key Responsibilities:
Install lath and other framework; plaster wall and ceiling surfaces. Apply coats of plaster or other material to lath or other framework, add additional coats and topping and finishes to desired thickness.
Perform plastering patchwork by removing old plaster, applying new plaster in amounts sufficient to fill in cracks and holes and finishes to match existing surface.
Finish dry wall by applying appropriate materials to seams, indentions, corners and low areas. Tape seams, apply finishing coats and sand topping to desired finish.
May occasionally perform general tasks such as the following: move and/or cover furniture and equipment for protection, carry supplies, set up scaffolding and ladders, tear out old walls, mix plaster (and other mixtures), and clean up job site on completion of work.
May fabricate, repair and/or install decorative plaster pieces; may utilize spraying equipment in application of plastering materials.
Perform other duties as assigned.
A valid driver’s license which will allow the legal operation of a motor vehicle in the State of Missouri is required.
Job Description
§ A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary; demonstrated skills may offset requirements.
§ Experience sufficient to qualify as a journey level, with a minimum of four years of actual work in the trade, including apprenticeship or vocational training.
§ Knowledge of and skill in the maintenance and use of tools, equipment and materials of the trade.
§ Good physical health and coordination; sufficient strength to perform some heavy lifting and ability to work on ladders, scaffolding and staging.
§ A valid driver’s license may be required for certain positions.
Depending on the nature of work performed, the incumbent may be required to wear a respirator or self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) as outlined in the “Industrial Standard for Respirator Use”.

Salary Range: $17.18 - $25.50 per hour
Grade: GGS-E
