Interim Director of University of Montana Entertainment Management Program, College of Business

The College of Business at University of Montana is seeking to fill the position of Interim Director of the UM Entertainment Management (UMEM) Program for the 2022-23 academic year. Reporting to the Chair of the Management & Marketing Department, the primary responsibilities of the Director of UMEM are:

• Teach three (3) courses per semester
• Organize and supervise internships, other experiential learning opportunities, and professional development opportunities for students
• Produce at least one show, event, or performance
• Manage the program budget
• Represent the program within the college, university, and community
• Develop and foster a positive relationship with the UMEM board and other industry partners

Required Qualifications

• Prior to start date, have either
  • Earned a Doctorate in business, economics, or an entertainment related field (e.g., theatre, music, dance) OR
  • Earned a Master’s degree and have three or more years of business experience in an entertainment-related field or industry
• Demonstrated ability to teach one or more of the following courses: entertainment management, event management, and venue management

Preferred Qualifications

• Teaching quality demonstrated by recent teaching evaluations and/or awards. 
• Demonstrated commitment to serving the needs of diverse students (e.g., Native Americans, first generation college students, non-traditional aged students, military veterans).
• Relevant business experience in entertainment-related industries
• Demonstrated ability to engage the business community
• Excellent written and oral communication skills

Position Details

• Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE (Academic Year, 10 months), Faculty, and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, and wellness program.
• Salary is dependent on qualifications and is comparable with peer universities in the region.
