What are the responsibilities and job description for the Travel Accountant position at University of Montevallo?
The Travel Accountant position is responsible for (1) assisting the UM campus with travel arrangements, policies, and procedures in compliance with IRS and State regulations as well as UM policies and procedures. 2) Perform accounting duties, processing, and detail analysis for all UM travel requests, travel advances, travel expense reimbursements and procurement card functions related to campus travel.
Essential Job Duties
1. Maintain IRS regulatory compliance, and all Federal and State regulatory compliance that relates to Travel Procedures.
2. Perform and maintain travel procedures, authorizations, and travel reimbursement requests for compliance with UM, Federal, and State regulations.
3. Advise faculty and staff with procedures involving travel procedures, moving expenses, and travel forms.
4. Book flights, rental cars, hotels, and shuttles, and maintain the travel system for all UM faculty and staff.
5. Follow up with Hotels to ensure the UM Pcard is charged and obtain copies of all final bills.
6. Use of UM Pcard to pay for any type of Registration, both Travel and Online professional development.
7. Assisting Athletics and other team or large campus groups with flights and hotel arrangements.
8. Maintain and reconcile all UM Regions P-cards transactions monthly.Create a new Pcard when requested and approved.
9. Keep all Travel forms up to date and available on the UM website.
10. Issue and reconcile all Athletic and Student Travel Advances.
11. Handle all charter bus payments.
12. Handle all student travel reimbursements, including student organizations and clubs (Bass Fishing, Outdoor Scholars, etc.)
13. Handle all vendor travel payments.
14. Handle all Athletics recruiting reimbursements.
15. Reconcile travel accounts and prepare monthly general ledger upload entries for Banner general ledger entry.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Advanced knowledge and usage of accounting procedures.
- General knowledge of university operations, policies and procedures;
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing;
- Ability to work independently and with a team;
- Computer ERP software and Microsoft Office skills.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
3 years of related experience.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $39,876.00 - $54,624.00 per year
