Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking a student worker to join our team at the Office of Marketing and Communications as a Web Development Intern. In this role, you will have the chance to gain hands-on experience in developing, enhancing, and maintaining our University's primary website.

This opportunity is available to students from all computer or digital design-related majors, as the skills acquired are widely applicable across various careers, considering that almost all businesses can benefit from an online presence. We will also provide comprehensive on-the-job training.

Prior web experience would be a plus, although not a requirement., and we encourage first- and second-year students with an interest in web development/design to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Managing content management requests for website updates from campus units

  • Providing technical support for web-based systems to internal users

  • Working with the web team to address bugs and develop/design new features for the University website

  • Test and give feedback on new and existing website components or features

  • Remediating web components or digital content for ADA accessibility

  • Using SiteImprove to monitor and fix quality assurance and accessibility issues on websites

  • Building and updating online forms

Required Qualifications

  • Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior web experience would be a plus, although not a requirement

  • First- and Second-year students with an interest in web development/design are encouraged to apply

  • Knowledge of basic HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming in C or C#

  • Familiarity with MVC and Foundation frameworks

  • Organized and able to manage multiple work assignments and meet deadlines
